Technical rescue - Technical rescue refers to those aspects of saving life or property that employ the use of tools and skills that exceed those normally reserved for firefighting and rescue. These disciplines include rope rescue, swiftwater rescue,dive rescue, confined space rescue, snow and ice rescue, cave rescue, trench/excavation rescue, and building collapse rescue, among others. Cave rescue - Cave rescue is a highly specialized field of rescue in which injured or trapped people are removed from or treated in caves and other underground space. Cave rescue borrows from firefighting, confined space rescue, and rope rescue, but also has developed its own special techniques and skills for performing work in conditions that are almost always difficult and demanding. Heavy rescue vehicle - A heavy rescue vehicle, often referred to as a rescue company, rescue squad, or simply heavy rescue, is a type of specialty firefighting or EMS apparatus. Essentially oversized toolboxes on wheels, they are primarily designed for technical rescue situations such as auto accidents, rope rescues, swiftwater rescues, or collapses. Trench rescue - Trench rescue is a highly specialized form of rescue, a subset of confined space rescue. Trench rescue involves shoring up the sides of a trench, and digging a trapped worker out of a collapsed ditch.
